Generations Adult Foster Care

Generations Home Care is the only home health care agency in Delaware that offers adult foster care, a cost-effective alternative to placement in an assisted living facility or nursing home.

As part of this program, sponsors open their homes and their hearts to those who can no longer live independently and whose family members are unable to serve as caregivers on a daily basis. Sponsors and clients become like family, and it is not unusual for clients to participate in the sponsoring family’s activities and trips.

Generations Home Care carefully screens and selects only the most qualified and caring individuals to serve as adult foster care sponsors. These sponsors are then thoroughly trained to provide proper care and assistance for elderly and disabled individuals.

Long-term Placement

Long-term placement is for individuals who need minimal personal assistance on an ongoing basis and who do not have a family member who can serve as their primary caregiver. Our Adult Foster Care program sponsors provide room, board and companionship as well as assistance with errands, transportation, medication reminders and nutrition management.

Short-term Placement

If a family member needs relief from their caregiving responsibilities on a temporary basis – such for travel or work – their loved one can be placed with an Adult Foster Care sponsor for up to three months.

Emergency Placement

In the event that a family member is unable to provide care due to their own urgent medical needs, their loved one can be placed with an Adult Foster Care sponsor for up to one month while their primary caregiver recovers.
