Generations Medical Transportation

For many older adults in our community, driving can become more difficult due to the effects of age or illness. Others find they cannot sustain the cost of car ownership and maintenance. These are serious obstacles that can prevent seniors from obtaining the health care they need.

Generations Home Care offers several transportation programs in order to help seniors overcome these challenges and reach medical appointments that are necessary to maintaining their health and independence.

Volunteer Transportation Program

Generations’ Volunteer Transportation Program provides rides for seniors 60 years of age or older who do not have other means of transportation to medical appointments.

Volunteers pick up riders at their homes, driving them to and from the doctor, dentist, eye doctor, testing center or other necessary health care appointments.

To be eligible for this program, the passenger must be ambulatory and cannot require the use of a walker or assistance from the driver.

Service is available within New Castle County only and excludes the city of Wilmington. There is no cost for rides, although donations are requested.

To schedule a ride, please call our volunteer transportation coordinator at 302-658-6731, ext. 114 at least five days in advance of the appointment.
